The Freedom to Boycott for Justice and for Human Rights

Dear Elliott, Shabbat Shalom,

I am writing to express my deepest concern and objection to the decision taken by WJC to actively endorse legislation that in its spirit and in its specifics is unconstitutional and an assault on free speech. The call for a legislated ban or boycott of businesses that want to participate in a voluntary boycott of Israel until it ends the occupation and the ongoing violations of Palestinian human rights is hypocritical, and is a blatant effort to silence dissent. You do not even distinguish between boycotting Israel and boycotting settlement enterprises on stolen Palestinian land.  As a respected member of the business community for over 40 years, and as owner of a business for over 30 years, I have the right to participate and have my business participate in a nonviolent movement without fear of recrimination from my own government.

Dear Nada,On Nov. 14, Con Edison, the City of Mt. Vernon, and NY League of Conservation Voters will give an introductory presentation at the Doles Recreation Center at 6:30 pm for a utility thermal network proposal. Please see the attached flyer in jpg and pdf. A Utility Thermal Network is the most efficient and cost-effective way of heating and cooling buildings. With the help of Con Edison and the City of Mt. Vernon, some residents of the city may have an opportunity to enroll in a pilot project that will upgrade the participating residents' heating, cooling, and hot water systems to a thermal network at no cost to them. These residents would enjoy lower utility bills and safer, more comfortable, and pollution-free heating and cooling. Scaling up such networks will eventually pay a huge role in cutting greenhouse has and co-pollutant emissions from New York's building sector, which is currently the largest source of such emissions in the state.Thank you!Anshul--Anshul Gupta (he/him)Policy & Research Director, New Yorkers for Clean Power[email protected]201-357-0794 ... “The Democratic Party really underestimated the extent to which lots of people in this country are in crisis.”

The Muslim ban is real, and it just happened to me at Harris's rally today in Royal Oak, MI. They kicked me out without any reason, even after I received confirmation to attend and passed a security clearance at the gate. After I was seated, they called me and asked me to leave…

A win in the courts! For the first time, a federal court has confirmed what Palestine Legal & partners have long asserted: applying the distorted IHRA definition of antisemitism to student speech at public unis is unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination: https://www.cair.com/press_releases/breaking-cair-obtains-federal-court-ruling-against-texas-unconstitutional-crackdown-on-student-criticism-of-israel/
