Film Screening: The Palestine Exception

May 15 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Reminder that Voices for Peace will be screening the documentary film “The Palestine Exception” on Thursday, 5/15 at 7 pm at the Ethical Culture Society (Saxon Wood Road in White Plains).  Please plan to arrive early so we can start the film on time.  There will be food and refreshments.

According to the official synopsis of the film:

“The Palestine Exception” tells the story of the largest anti-war movement since the 1970’s.  Faculty, students, and staff on campuses across the U.S. make demands on their institutions to support a ceasefire in Gaza and divestment from campuses that do business with Israel.  The documentary unfolds as a story of college campuses on sites of both rebellion and repression.  It features diverse academics and students explaining the history of censorship around criticism of Israel and Zionism.

I urge everyone to attend and bring along as many others as you can.  The film is an important statement about an urgently relevant matter.  Whether we agree with everything the campus pro-Palestinian protesters say and do or not, the Trump administration is cynically exploiting the situation to destroy academic freedom and free speech in America, which should concern everyone regardless of their politics.  A discussion will follow the screening.

If you would, please let me know if you are coming and how many others if any will be coming with you.

Salaam, Shalom and Peace,
