Yonkers Juneteenth Commemoration

Sunday, June 11, 2017: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Trevor Park & Warburton Ave., Yonkers, NY 10 am- 12:00 Noon- “UNITY” Workshop Service at Trevor Park hosted by Kingdom Christian Cultural Center. The service will be lead by associated Ministers and want to invite all churches and congregations to come out EARLY and worship with us together. Our Faith in The Creator helped to establish the Watch Night Service tradition in the U.S. that is part of our Juneteenth Celebration.
12 Noon – 2:00 pm- African Healing Opening Session with Libation, Drumming & Dancing featuring the African Healing Circle with Baaba Abishai Ben Rueben and Iya Sawu . 2:00 pm –JUNETEENTH AFRICAN HERITAGE PARADE on Warburton Avenue! Call to everybody to view and support the parade participants! Marching bands from our local High School’s drum & Bugle corps from all over Westchester County, Harlem, Brooklyn and N.J…. Motorcades of vintage cars, motorcycle clubs and colorful floats. And of course all of our local favorite groups- Sam H Dow Post, James H Farrell Lodge and many, many other.
4:00 pm – 8:00 pm- JUNETEENTH AFRICAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL at Trevor Park. FOOD/ MERCHANT/ Non-Profit VENDORS! Children Rides, Arts & Crafts, Face Paintings etc., Sporting Events, Poetry, Praise Dancers , Gospel Singers, Souvenir journals, T-Shirts, Promotions and Live performances African drumming & dancing. Good Clean Safe Fun for the Whole Family. Children Corner rides and Arts & Crafts sponsored by the Yonkers family YMCA. 7:00pm- Juneteenth Support Raffle drawing: “Promote Businesses that Support the Culture”
