Worker Owned Cooperative Information Session

February 29 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

When: February 29th – 9:00-10:30am

Where: New York Power Authority – 123 Main Street, White Plains

The Economic Development Department of Westchester County and the Westchester Cooperative Network are excited to present an informational workshop on worker owned cooperatives. If you are unfamiliar with this concept, we encourage you to attend to learn more.

Who is this for? – Business owners and employees, entrepreneurs, people looking for creative ways to get their business started and officials interested in generating local wealth.

Why a Co-op? – Worker owned cooperatives offer an opportunity for businesses to live on when owners want to move on; for employees to become owners; for entrepreneurs who want to be able to develop new prospects. A worker cooperative makes good business sense for the retiring owner, provides stability and rewards for the workers and promotes economic vitality for the community.

How do I do this?  –  You will hear from:

  • Delia Marx, promoter of worker co-ops in Westchester.
  • Joél Mejia, worker-owner of a successful co-op.
  • Angela DeFelice, managing director of a co-op lending organization.
  • Joe Marraffino, experienced in business transitions to multi-ownership.
  • Saduf Syal, experienced in municipal intervention for the creation of local co-op ecosystems.
