The purpose of Veterans For Peace is to increase public awareness of the Costs of War, restrain our government from intervening in the internal affairs of other nations, End the arms race, Eliminate Nuclear Weapons, seek justice for Veterans and all victims of war, and to Abolish War as an instrument of national policy.

Veterans For Peace calls for the observance of November 11 to be in keeping with the holiday’s original intent as Armistice Day, to be “a day dedicated to the cause of world peace,” as it was celebrated at the end of World War I, when the world came together to recognize the need for lasting peace. After World War II, Congress rebranded November 11 as Veterans Day, which has morphed into honoring the military and glorifying war. Armistice Day has been flipped from a Day for Peace to displays of militarism.

This year with a rise of hate and fear, we must end reckless rhetoric and military interventions that endanger the entire world. Instead of celebrating militarism, we want to celebrate peace and all humanity. We demand an end to all forms of hate, patriarchy and white supremacy and we call for unity, fair treatment and equality for all. We call for tearing down of walls between borders and people. We call for an end to all hostilities at home and around the globe. Today the U.S. has a president who says diplomacy with North Korea is a waste of time. Diplomacy is in fact the only hope. War is an immoral and tragic waste. The world has said it before and is saying it again now. NO to WAR!

The parade goes north on Fifth Avenue, from 26th to 52nd Street. The route is 1.2 miles, and takes approximately 30 ~ 35 minutes.
TV Broadcast – The parade will air LIVE on PIX11 from Noon to 3pm on Armistice Day. It can also be viewed online at Military.com.
VIPs will review the parade from the stage on 5th Avenue at 41st St.(in front of the NY Public Library). Bleacher seating for spectators is available near the Review Stand, with priority seating for elderly & disabled veterans.

Marchers will also be meeting for a post-parade gathering at Connolly’s, 121 W 45 St. 3rd Floor
