Folks who worked on the Packaging Reduction bill last session may remember the infamous “cheese debate,” wherein a certain food manufacturer claimed that PRRIA would take away individually plastic-wrapped cheese product slices. While it seems obvious that replacing plastic cheese wrappers with parchment paper to separate slices will reduce waste, there’s another aspect of the cheese debate that we want to bring to the public’s attention.
Wednesday, April 30, Interfaith Public Health Network and Beyond Plastics will host a panel
on the recently published paper, “A toxic relationship: Ultra-processed foods & plastics.”
This panel will feature the paper’s authors, other experts in science and public policy, and faith leaders to discuss the nature of the problem and offer concrete actions we can take to protect people and the planet.
