Presenter: Chuck Stead, Adjunct Professor of Environmental Studies, Ramapo College of New Jersey
Details: Chuck Stead will present on traditional knowledge and its role in restoration of industrial contamination
in the 21st Century.
Chuck Stead is a professional storyteller who worked with the Ramapough people in the midst of Ford Motor Company’s legacy of toxic contamination in the Ramapo Mountains. His account tells of a tragedy turned into healing, recovery and community participation. The SaltBox, an historic structure raised as an educational center and medicine garden, now stands as testimony to the ability to grow something positive from a field of paint sludge.
Refreshments at 7:00 provided by the Greenbugh Nature Center, program starts at 7:30.
