The Ongoing Nakba

Speakers from BADIL and Zochrot will discuss the “Ongoing Nakba” affecting Palestinians in Palestine and in the diaspora. Presentations
will provide a historical overview of the Nakba (“catastrophe” in Arabic) and the practicalities of the Right of Return for refugees. The audience will have time to consider integrating the Nakba and the Right of Return into U.S.-based advocacy.

BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights is an independent, community-based non-profit organization in Bethlehem mandated to protect and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons. www.badil.org

Zochrot (“Remembering” in Hebrew) is an Israeli NGO working to promote acknowledgement of and accountability for the ongoing injustices of the Nakba, and the reconceptualization of Return as imperative redress and a chance for a better life for all inhabitants. www.zochrot.org
