Stop the Spectra AIM Pipeline

I’m emailing to invite WESPAC to promote another rally next week, to Stop the Spectra AIM Pipeline on Wednesday, October 26. The action will take place in front of the Office of Senator Schumer in Manhattan on 780 3^rd Avenue (between 48^th and 49^th Streets) from 9:00am to 10:00am. 

 We are calling on Senator Schumer to take urgent action to appeal to President Obama to direct the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to immediately stop construction before the project becomes operational this November. 

This high-pressure fracked-gas pipeline is being constructed dangerously close to Indian Point nuclear facility, creating the potential for a nuclear catastrophe that would threaten the safety of 20 million people in the New York tri-state area.

 We need a huge turnout, given the project’s impending completion and the enormity of the risk posed by the pipeline’s proximity to the nuclear plant.

Finally, there will be coordinated actions occurring on the same day at Schumer’s other offices in Peekskill, Binghamton, Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, Albany, Long Island, and Washington D.C. I can send you more information about these actions if you are interested.
