Large numbers of immigrants and refugees are being held captive in Trump’s concentration camps. Being denied basic necessities like soap, or a toothbrush. Being denied medication to the point of death.
This is happening. Moments like this are critical for allyship from citizens.
Join New York Immigration Coalition, along with community partners and allies, as we gather in front of Rep. Eliot Engel’s Mt. Vernon office to demand an end to the war on immigrants. Eliot Engel has supported some of the steps we need to take to close the camps but he’s still taking donations from companies like Goldman Sachs and Northrop Grumman, that are profiting from the war on immigrants. He needs to return those donations and commit to no more business as usual until the camps are closed.
WHEN: Saturday, October 12th, 12noon – 1pm
WHERE: Rep. Eliot Engel Mt. Vernon Office, 6 Gramatan Ave # 205, Mt Vernon, NY 10550
Our demands are simple:
1. No More Business as Usual!
We call on our Congressional Representatives to lead the call to close the camps. It’s not enough to be an ally; we need leaders who are willing to take political risks to ensure an end to the Trump administration’s inhumane practice of immigrant detention and family separation.
2. Not One More Dime for Concentration Camps!
Congress must vote against any budget that includes funding that could be used to support immigrant concentration camps and the war on immigrants. Defund ICE!
3. Stop Accepting Political Contributions From Donors Profiting from the War on Immigrants!
