Colleagues,
On Tuesday, October 5th we are asking you to join us as we stand up for Mercy students!
Mercy College, which predominantly serves low income students and students of color has among the lowest graduation rates of non-profit four-year colleges nationally yet will not engage in improvements suggested by us – the over 700 Mercy adjunct faculty.
After two years of our advocating for students, the Mercy College administration is standing behind a renowned anti-union attorney. They will not provide students with a continuous learning environment – instead only allowing “semester to semester” professor guarantees for students. Despite our suggestion, Mercy College will not provide funded professional development for the purpose of improving our student’s curriculum. Additionally, Mercy College is refusing to create incentives to retain long-term professors who have demonstrated success with students.
We will be outside Mercy’s 2021 Golf Classic Scholarship Fundraiser at the Ardsley Country Club passing out leaflets to donors and holding signs. We are asking Mercy’s donors to tell Mercy College and their anti-union attorney to listen directly to us and our students about what students need to graduate and succeed!
What: Rally for Mercy College Students
When: 8:30am – 10am
Where: Outside the Ardsley Country Club. 100 North Mountain Drive, Dobbs Ferry, NY.
In solidarity,
Mercy Faculty Forward Bargaining Committee
