Public Hearing on Westchester County Airport
June 25, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Dear concerned fellow residents and Westchester neighbors,
Join us at a public hearing on Westchester County Airport operations led by County Executive George Latimer and his administration.
Monday June 25th
7PM – until the last speaker is finished
West Harrison Senior Center
Airport operations includes topics like: aircraft noise, air pollution, the PFOS/PFOA groundwater pollution, corporate/charter aircraft company leases, and any other topics relating to the operations of the airport. This is the time to let the administration know how you and your family are impacted by the aircraft and how the current situation is unacceptable. They are listening closely to us, and we invite you to speak. The number of speakers matters a lot, even if you only speak for a minute (you get up to 5 minutes)! If the county does not take forceful action now, airport operations will continue to increase. An increase in aircraft is itself expansion. We have been promised in past resolutions by the County that the airport will not expand, however it continues to expand greatly to this day.
If your quality of life is impacted by the airport, you can talk about your personal experiences. If you are not directly impacted, you can emphasize that there is no air pollution monitoring, that the noise monitors are old and not consistently functioning, and that the noise suddenly increased to intolerable levels without warning. The Kensico Reservoir which is adjacent to the airport supplies drinking water to NYC and the majority of Westchester. There was contamination found in private wells near the airport in Westchester and Greenwich. It’s critically important that the county maintains oversight over the airport operations and does all that it can to protect the property values and quality of life of our residential communities.

The airport was one of the major election issues in 2017. The administration in office now must be reminded that it remains an important issue. We need to make sure that all decisions are made with the community’s interests first.
Please invite your neighbors.
