Median wages are declining while Wall Street bonuses are rising. The economy is not working for the average person. It doesn’t have to be this way. Big Apple Coffee Party and All Souls Peace and Justice Task Force are presenting a forum “It’s Our Money: Making the Economy Work for Us” that will explore alternative economic models and what we can do to transform the economy.

Richard D. Wolff is Professor of Economics, Emeritus, at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Visiting Professor at The New School for Social Research in New York City. In 2012 he published two books on the economic crisis: Occupy the Economy: Challenging Capitalism and Democracy at Work: A Cure for Capitalism. His writings appear in Truthout, The Guardian (UK) and many other publications. He does media interviews (Amy Goodman, Bill Moyers, Charlie Rose, etc.) and hosts his weekly hour-long “Economic Update” radio broadcast.

Marc Armstrong is Executive Director, Public Banking Institute. Marc is a business development and communications consultant. Having worked for IBM Finance with both Bank of America and Wells Fargo Wholesale Banking Divisions as primary customers, Marc is very familiar with the operational requirements for wholesale banks. Marc became interested in the topic of monetary reform and public banking after reading Ellen Brown’s book Web of Debt and after designing peer-to-peer mutual credit software designed for a mobile platform.

Omar Freilla founded Green Worker Cooperatives out of his love for personal and community transformation and a passion for democracy, the planet, and making another world possible. Green Worker Cooperatives is a South Bronx-based organization dedicated to incubating worker-owned green businesses in order to build a strong local economy rooted in democracy and environmental justice. Omar has received numerous awards for his work, including the Rockefeller Foundation’s Jane Jacobs Medal for New Ideas and Activism, and has been featured in Ebony Magazine’s annual Power 100 list.
