This year we will be writing letters on behalf of ten human rights defenders globally, including urging for the release of Indigenous Elder Leonard Peltier who has been in prison for nearly 50 years. We will be demanding justice for Joel Paredes from Argentina who lost his eye due to a rubber bullet fired during a peaceful protest to protect the land from lithium extraction for batteries. We will be advocating to protect the Wet’suwet’en Nation Land Defenders in Canada criminalized for protecting their ancestral lands. Write with us to demand justice for them and others.

If you attend in person, we will provide sample letters, letter-writing paper, pens, and envelopes for you to hand write letters and we will mail your letters.

If participating on Zoom, please be ready with paper, a pen, and envelopes. We will provide sample letters. You can mail your letters or we can arrange for us to mail them for you.

We will also provide a tally sheet so you can report your letters with our Amnesty Mid-Hudson chapter.

Writing letters to free human rights defenders works! Write a letter, impact a life!

We hope to see you there! Come for a little while to write one letter or stay longer to write all letters. Contact Diana at [email protected] or (845)389-3779 for questions or to report your letters with our Amnesty International Mid-Hudson group.

Best wishes,
Diana
