Fukushima Observation Day, Saturday, March 11, 2023, 12th Anniversary, Peace Walk, Rain or Shine
March 11 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Hello Everyone, A Message from Jeanne Shaw
FUKUSHIMA 12 – We invite you to join us in commemoration.
Saturday, March 11, 2023, is the 12th Anniversary of the beginning of the ongoing Nuclear Disaster at Fukushima.
On that day we will meet with Jun-san Yasuda and Peace Walkers at the Peekskill Train Station at 11 AM.
We will go to the adjacent Riverfront for a Water Ceremony.
At approximately 11:45 we will walk to the old gates of Indian Point, at Broadway and Bleakley in Buchanan,
arriving at approximately 12:45 for Peace Ceremony and delivery of Origami Peace Cranes.
Those driving can go directly to Indian Point between 12:30 -12:45 to await the Peace Walkers.
Following this ceremony, we will proceed to the Westchester Diner to share Lunch.
Rain or shine.
Those arriving by train, please be sure to take the Hudson Line Metro North train (from South or North) that will arrive at or before 11 AM in Peekskill.
There will be a couple of support vehicles accompanying the Peace Walkers for those in need. After lunch, we will return to the train station. We look forward to seeing all of you. If you cannot make it that’s fine. If you can, please let me know if you will need a ride from us rather than walk as there are very limited seats in cars. Anyone who can be a support vehicle please let me know.
