Film Screening 13th in White Plains

April 23, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm

From the ratification of the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery in 1865 to the presidential election in 2016, the Oscar-nominated film “13th” lays out the ways in which a new form of slavery — the mass criminalizing and undermining of opportunity of black people, especially poor black people — has come about in the US and continues today. “13th” is a must-see, especially for those who haven’t walked in these shoes.

The Community Unitarian Universalist Congregation at White Plains will be showing the documentary “13th” on Sunday, April 23 at 11:45am with a discussion afterward led by CUUC Minister Rev. Meredith Garmon and CUUC congregant Deb Margoluis, with special guest Mayo Bartlett, an accomplished civil rights attorney. A light lunch will be served. Both the screening and lunch are free.

Please RSVP to Mary Cavallero at [email protected] for CUUC’s lunch or you’re welcome to bring your own.

Our address is 468 Rosedale Avenue, White Plains..
