Effects of Plastic Bags on the Environment

Learn why plastic bags are problematic for the environment, where they end up, and what can be done

about them during the Conservation Café  “Bag the Plastic: the Effects of Plastic Bags on the Environment”

Friday, November 6, at the Greenburgh Public Library.

 

Speakers for the program will include:

 

• Patti Wood, co-founder and Executive Director of Grassroots Environmental Education, who will

discuss the problems plastic bags pose for the environment;

 

• Anne Bobroff-Hajal, member of Eco-Neighbors in White Plains, who will present research she has

conducted on the impact plastic bag legislation has had on various local communities;

 

• Catherine Parker, Westchester County Legislator, who will discuss proposed legislation for a plastic

bag ban for Westchester County;

 

• Nancy Seligson, Supervisor of the Town of Mamaroneck, who will highlight actions that individual

communities can take to “ditch the plastic.”

 

A panel discussion with a question-and-answer session will follow the formal presentations.

The program runs from 8:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Admission is free. Pre-registration
