Steven White is publisher and editor of “The Power of Ten”, an email newsletter and blog covering issues relating to the East Ramapo Schools. His work around education issues has been covered by The New York Times and WBEZ’s This American Life. He has also worked on environmental justice issues; social justice and anti-war issues with the Rockland Coalition for Peace and Justice, and tenants’ rights issues with the NAACP and Legal Aid. Together with his wife Emilia, he received the Nyack Area Peace Award from the Fellowship of Reconciliation. In April, 2015 he was inducted into the Rockland County Civil Rights Hall of Fame.
Haley Pessin is an activist and rank and file member of 1199 SEIU currently living in Queens, NY. She is on the Steering Committee of Legal Workers Rank & File (LWRF) and has organized with Campaign to End the Death Penalty and Rockland Coalition to End the New Jim Crow. She frequently speaks on topics of mass incarceration and the Black Liberation struggle.
Alan Levin is a psychotherapist and meditation teacher based in Rockland County. He is a long time activist and facilitates the Network of Holistic Activists working to bring a body-mind-spirit focus to social justice, peace and ecological issues. In 2012 he was awarded FOR’s Nyack Area Peace Award. He is also the author of “Crossing the Boundary: Stories of Jewish Leaders of Other Spiritual Paths.”
