Come and hear Ayesha Hoda, who developed her activist roots at WESPAC, and Hany Massoud, Democracy Now! Producer, talk about their direct action program for youth, Justice by the Pen.
Thursday, June 20th
6:00 – 8:30 pm at the
Mapleton Conference Center at Good Counsel
52 North Broadway in White Plains, NY 10603
Join us for a night of food, entertainment and information on the launch of Justice by the Pen, a youth initiative aimed at activating communities towards self-determination by engaging youth in social justice and community activism.
Hany Massoud, producer of the radio TV show Democracy Now!, will talk about how his experience as a journalist and as a Muslim American almost entrapped by the government in the Houston Taliban case in 2006, led him and his wife, Ayesha, a public school teacher in the Bronx with WESPAC roots, to start Justice by the Pen.
Learn more about the organization and participate in a sample workshop to get a taste of what they offer young people.
Homemade Egyptian food (Kosheri and Baklava) by Hany’s mother will be served along with guest performances by students
from the South Bronx Middle School Mott Hall III (MS 128).
A $20 contribution requested at the door. $10 for students and fixed income. No one turned away. For further information, call 914.449.6514. Contributions to Justice By the Pen will be deeply appreciated!
