From Amnesty Mid-Hudson:
Dear Concerned Community Members, (Please share this widely and with your groups)
Amnesty International USA Mid-Hudson is hosting our annual
In person and virtual Zoom
Global Write for Rights letter-writing event
Sunday, December 11th from 1:00-4:00 pm
This year we will be writing letters on behalf of ten human rights defenders globally. We will be writing letters for Joanah, Netsai, and Cecillia from Zimbabwe who were abducted, tortured, and sexually assaulted after leading a protest. Shahnewaz from Bangladesh is facing years in prison for a Facebook post about the devastating environmental impact in his region. Zineb was killed by a tear gas grenade in France and nobody has been charged. Write with us to demand justice for them and others.
If you attend in person, we will provide sample letters, letter-writing paper, pens, and envelopes for you to hand write letters and we will mail your letters.
If participating on Zoom, please be ready with paper, a pen, and envelopes. We will provide sample letters. You can mail your letters or we can arrange for us to mail them for you.
We will also provide a tally sheet so you can report your letters with our Amnesty Mid-Hudson chapter.
We hope to see you there! Come for a little while to write one letter or stay longer to write all letters. Contact Diana at
[email protected] or (845)389-3779 for questions or to report your letters with our Amnesty International Mid-Hudson group.
