Over the last eight months The 400 Years Project and The Ethical Culture Society of Westchester, in White Plains, have been presenting Café nights inspired by the 400 year history of enslaved Africans in North America. The evenings include live music, spoken word, light refreshments and feature local visual and performance artists and historical presentations. 100% of contributions benefit local charities.
Recent Cafés have been: September, “400 Years of African-American Music”; October, “Enslaved Africans Rain Garden“; and November, “People Not Property” by Michael Lord of Historic Hudson Valley. On January 17th, 2020 at 7:30pm at 7 Saxon Wood Road in White Plains we’ll be presenting “Our Roots Run Deep: Local Elders Speak on African-American Communities in Greenburgh”.
Would your society be able to post this event to your calendar and/or distribute to your contact list? For more information, and a flier file for the January event, please get back to me.
