THIS SUNDAY: NOON- LECTURE SLAVERY IN IRVINGTON/GREENBURGH AT IRVINGTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH -25 NORTH BROADWAY, IRVINGTON Cathy Sears will present, with Sarah Cox, a fascinating lecture on Sunday February 23rd at noon at the Irvington Presbyterian Church, 25 North Broadway, Irvington on slavery in Irvington. The lecture is based on part of a co authored journal they wrote in the winter of 2019 issue of THE ROOST, produced by the Irvington Historical Society. Irvington and Greenburgh residents had slaves. There was even a burial ground in Irvington for the slaves. The cemetery was destroyed and was developed for commercial purposes. A committee Recognizing Enslaved Africans in Irvington Committee will be presenting a proposal to the Irvington Village Board of Trustees to recognize this unfortunate period in Irvington’s history. I interviewed Cathy Sears on my WVOX radio program this past Friday. A link to the show can be found here: – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOxzOcYWTD4
