WRITE FOR RIGHTS!
SATURDAY DECEMBER 7, 2019
1:00-5:00 PM
Community Unitarian Church,
468 Rosedale Ave., White Plains, NY
Dear Amnesty International Supporter:
In spite of the continued assault on human rights around the world, you can
count on Amnesty International to continue its great work. We in Group 42 (White
Plains, NY) continue to carry the flame forward, and we hope you will join us at
our annual Write For Rights event celebrating International Human Rights
Day this year. Food, fellowship and great door prizes await! All materials
provided, and we need your energy and enthusiasm to make this a success.
This letter-writing marathon, in its 17th year this December, is a day when
millions of Amnesty supporters will use the power of their words to defend human
rights. This year we’ll be sending our personal messages to support the work of
human rights defenders and young people under threat in countries like China,
Greece, the Phillipines, Belarus, Nigeria, Canada and more. These individuals
and groups are being targeted for their ethnicity, sentenced without trial, abused
by police forces, defending their homes and lands, and bravely speaking out
about injustice even in the face of imprisonment, torture or death.
In the face of increasing instability and uncertainty around the world, it is ever
more important that we come together, support each other, and take action to
show that we believe a more just world is possible. Please join us!
Sincerely,
Ruth Gyure, Group Coordinator
