As we gather together to commemorate International Human Rights Day on December 10th, we acknowledge that the right to locally and sustainably grown fresh produce is a very basic right denied to millions of people around the world. Holt-Giménez asserts that to end hunger and stop global warming we must make fundamental changes to the global food system.

Steve Fondiller is Chairperson of the Board of Local Farms Fund, a community impact farmland investment fund that supports early-stage farmers, and led the committee that created the fund. His activism has spanned from the divestment from South Africa movement, to opposition to nuclear power, to investment in and support for fair trade. He is a volunteer distributor of Fair World Project’s publication For a Better World: Ideas and Action for a Just Economy.
