Rally for Paid Sick Time

May 21, 2018 @ 5:15 pm - 6:00 pm

Rally on Monday, May 21st, for Paid Sick Time

Thousands of workers in Westchester County have no access to paid sick time. Their choice is often between a day’s pay and a chance to get better at home from colds and other temporary ailments or a doctor’s visit for a sick child. Guess which one wins? Many of these workers are in the fast food industry or other minimum wage jobs in which they interact regularly with the general public. Then the issue becomes a public health issue to everyone’s detriment. New York City instituted mandatory paid sick time for all workers several years ago and it is working! Workers are using their days judiciously and employers are not greatly affected. Paid Sick Time was one of the priorities of the Democratic majority on the county Board of Legislators, but it appears that the momentum has stopped and its viability is in question. Please join the coalition of groups in support of this very necessary legislation at a rally on May 21st. Call your legislators. We need paid sick time in Westchester County!

When: Monday, May 21, 5:15pm–6pm
Where: In front of the county building–148 Martine Avenue, White Plains, NY
