Annual Citywide Juneteenth African Heritage Parade & Festival

The Pan-African Flag Raising Ceremony is our opening program of the Citywide Juneteenth African Heritage Festival and Parade 2017.
The Pan-African Flag is a symbol of Unity for all people of African Ancestry to come together around common issues. The ceremony usually features opening prayer and libation, short history of the red, black and green, recognition of our High School scholarship recipients which are the King and Queen for the year, the Honorable Parade Marshals and comments from our local politicians. The program pays homage to our ancestors and in remembrance those who have served on the Heritage committee and has pasted on.

The Reception Ceremony is the opening program for the Juneteenth African Heritage Festival Weekend of activities. YAAHC in partnership with the YWCA Yonkers will host the program titled; Juneteenth: A Tribute to Black Music. The month of June is Black Music Month. This program will feature DJ Kev Boogie and live performances and vignettes that highlight the role of Music in our Black Freedom Struggle. The program will have local vendors and refreshments will be served.
