State of the State: Black Lives Matter

January 21, 2015 @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm

WESPAC members are coordinating transportation to this.  Please be in touch if you would like to attend and need transportation:

Wednesday, January 21, political leaders from across the state will be in Albany for Governor Cuomo’s annual State of the State address.  Traditionally, protests are held on the in-door concourse through which elected officials pass on their way to the address.  This year, Capital Area Against Mass Incarceration, the group that has been organizing the protests for Michael Brown, Eric Garner and the other victims of police violence in the Albany area will be holding protests on the concourse.

The protest will include a totally legal action but some people might do a direct action that might cause their arrest.  Those who want to participate in the legal action will not have to worry about arrest.  For both actions please meet between 11:30 am and noon at the Madison Ave entrance to the concourse.  This is across the street from the New York State Museum.  We are inviting all concerned people from throughout the state to join us.

This will be an unprecedented opportunity to have all the major political leaders in the state in one place and to let them see the power of the people and that Black Lives Matter.

Please join us.  For more information and to let us know you are coming, please contact us at: (518)461-5702 or [email protected].

Please forward widely and share the event with your Facebook friends.
