“Dance for Justice” #D4J will take place Friday, December 5, 2014, from 7pm-12am at St. Peters Church, at 19 Smith Street in Port Chester, NY 10573. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students/low-income. Get your tickets today at www.wespac.org!
“Dance for Justice” is a dynamic community building project that supports local social justice and promotes alliances amongst diverse communities of color. Proceeds to benefit the Victory Bus Project, led by local organizer Jalal Sabur, which brings families from Westchester County and NYC to visit their loved ones in prisons in the Hudson Valley. The project also provides fresh, locally grown produce to the families who get a ride to visit their loved ones. This project connects food justice to prison reform, as many of the same low-income communities that face the highest rates of imprisonment also face the highest rates of deadly food related illness, including diabetes and high blood pressure.
Cosponsors of #D4J include: Hudson Valley Community Coalition, a community building coalition working with immigrants, Community Governance and Development Council, a community development organization focusing on community empowerment and development in South West Yonkers, and UFCW Local 1500, New York’s grocery worker’s union.
“Dance for Justice” is going to be a celebration for all those who fight for justice everyday. Space is limited, get your tickets at www.wespac.org. More info: 914.449.6514 or [email protected] #D4J
