Global Frackdown in White Plains

I hope this note finds you well. I wanted to give you a quick update about New Yorkers Against Fracking’s upcoming event, The Global Frackdown: White Plains. Bill McKibben from 350.org has called the Global Frackdown the next step forward in the People’s Climate March. It is critical that we take all that inspiring energy from the Climate March and channel it into positive change here in Westchester County. The Global Frackdown gives us just that opportunity.

With this in mind, we are very excited to announce that Zephyr Teachout will be speaking our Global Frackdown! She brings a wealth of knowledge and should really raise the visibility of fracking in Westchester County – Governor Cuomo’s home-county. It is so important that we get as many people as possible to support our rally. The Global Frackdown will be on Saturday, October 11th @ 1pm in Renaissance Plaza, White Plains (200 Main Street). Could you forward this updated announcement (below) to your groups and networks?

If WESPAC is interested in being a sponsor of the event, please let me know. We are planning on involving several media outlets, including the Journal News, Daily News, blogs, local papers, as well as radio and TV stations like Channel 12 News and FiOs 1. We will release a statement naming all the groups who participated as sponsors and would love WESPAC to be on the list. In order to sponsor the event, a group needs to pledge to bring at least 10 members/activists from their group. Nada, can WESPAC be one of our sponsors?

New Yorkers Against Fracking: The Global Frackdown!

WHERE: Renaissance Public Plaza, 200 Main Street, White Plains 

WHEN: Saturday, October 11^th @ 1:00pm

 

Fracking is a dirty and dangerous process for extracting oil and gas from the earth. It threatens our rivers, streams and our drinking water with toxic chemicals. Leading up to this election, Governor Cuomo could decide any day that fracking can take place in New York.

 

This decision would have disastrous effects on our rivers and drinking water, as well as adding tons of harmful methane gas to the atmosphere, intensifying climate change. Governor Cuomo needs to hear from his constituents in Westchester County that fracking is too dangerous for New York!

 

New Yorkers Against Fracking in Westchester County is participating in the GLOBAL FRACKDOWN on October 11^th! We will join hundreds of protests across the nation and across the world! Come out to support clean drinking water and our public health! Zephyr Teachout will be there! Will YOU?
