Analyzing Immigration & Comprehensive Reform through a Civil Liberties Lens
Fordham University—Westchester Campus

2:00 – 4:00 PM
U.S. Policy has historically shown patterns of exclusivity and intentional acts of marginalization as it relates to immigration and the right to naturalization. If we are to hold our governing bodies accountable for their failure to pass a comprehensive reform to fix a broken immigration system, we must explore the historical context that has led to our current system as well as understand the grave consequences on our future. Through our panel discussion we will discuss immigration as a civil liberties and human rights issue and the strategies needed to effectively advocate for a complete overhaul of policy and demand accurate public education on this critical topic. Our discussion will highlight ways in which you can get involved.
Please join us for an opportunity to hear first-hand from advocates and activists!
Panelists: Andrea Callan, NYCLU Statewide Advocacy Coordinator
Ron Figueroa, Rockland County Immigration Coalition
Joan Cavanagh, Fordham University Director of Campus Ministry
Dominique Hernandez-Briones, Field Organizer, NYS Youth Leadership Council
