Come learn about Mountaintop Removal coal mining: Young activists from Appalachia speak in Bedford on February 8th
Connect the dots with the recent Charleston, WV chemical spill
Remember hearing about the chemical spill in Charleston, West Virginia, that made the tap water dangerous and unusable for more than 300,000 people? Did you know that decades of mountaintop removal coal mining (MTR) have greatly exacerbated the consequences of this devastating leak?
Come hear a group of young activists affiliated with the Hands Off Appalachia campaign, many of them native West Virginians, speak about living under and fighting back against the destruction of their land and homes from mountaintop removal coal mining. Topics will include their ongoing work in Stamford, CT, against the financing of MTR.
Please join us for an afternoon presentation with a Question & Answer session. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served. Admission is free and open to the public.
