4:30
the first Tuesday Needleworkers Group
Meet at 4:30 to learn, bring work as you please, help, teach and chat before the program of the evening. We might adopt charitable projects at times, or recommend them, when we meet. It’s a work in progress,
like many of our projects.
All are welcome, even if you don’t knit, crochet, quilt, needlepoint or weave.
ALSO
ON October 1
State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins
Since recent redistricting, many of us are now represented in the New York State Senate by Andrea Stewart-Cousins, who in 2006 defeated long-time Senator Nick Spano. She serves on several committees: Hudson Valley Delegation; New York State Conference of Black Senators; Rules; New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus; and Upstate Caucus. As her website tells us with justifiable pride, “Andrea Stewart-Cousins was elected by her colleagues to serve as Leader of the Senate Democratic Conference in December 2012, becoming the first female leader of a legislative conference in New York State history.” She currently represents Greenburgh, part of White Plains, part of New Rochelle, part of Yonkers and Scarsdale. Together, Senators Stewart-Cousins and George Latimer represent all of White Plains and work closely together to do so effectively. The Senator said she looks forward to visiting us at Dorry’s, telling us what issues she thinks we should be aware of, and responding to our questions.
