JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – PROGRAM DIRECTOR

 

 

Girls Incorporated of Westchester County (GIWC) is an affiliate of the national Girls Incorporated, the nation’s leading expert on issues affecting girls and young women.  We provide critical programs that inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.

 

GIWC, a young organization that began serving girls in 2007, is seeking an experienced full-time Program Director

 

Position Summary: To ensure the development, coordination, supervision and delivery of structured, outcome-based programs for girls in Westchester, in keeping with the affiliate’s requirements and the core values and requirements of the national organization.

 

Reports To:   Executive Director

Supervises:   Program Staff, Interns, Volunteers

 

Principal Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing positive and productive partnerships with all site, community, and agency staff; maximizing partnership development and coordination with community resources.
  • Recruiting, orienting and supervising staff, interns and volunteers, ensuring that quality control requirements are met. Assessing their work and recognizing their efforts.
  • Exploring changing interests and developmental needs of girls, keeping up to date with changing patterns. Periodically reviewing programs to ensure they remain relevant.
  • Delivering Girls Inc. research-based programs to girls ages 6-18 throughout Westchester, including caregiver/daughter workshops, as needed.

·         Ensuring that programs are compliant with all grant delivery requirements, working effectively with funders to communicate progress and needs.

·         Positively and effectively representing Girls Inc. and our affiliate to all stakeholders;

cooperating in mission- aligned inter-agency collaboration and serving as an advocate for girls in the community.

  • Participating productively in the development of the affiliate’s capacity, including communications, administration and other areas where a need is identified.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelors Degree, Masters preferred, with degree in social work, education, psychology, child development, women’s studies or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in supervision, curriculum design, program development and training in youth work, teaching or related field; community outreach a plus.
  • Demonstrated skill in working with urban and suburban groups and diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with young people, facilitate cooperation and foster their involvement in program planning, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, stimulate and encourage creativity and innovation in staff and youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a multi-faceted program that is  responsive to the needs and interests of girls in the communities served.

 

  • Preference will be given to candidates from Westchester County with knowledge of the schools and afterschool community.
