TUESDAY: Say NO to $2 trillion in cuts!

Next Tuesday, March 4th join a rally in downtown Peekskill calling on Congress Member Mike Lawler to vote NO to a budget that will cut $2 trillion in critical benefits for individuals and our communities, to pay for $4.5 trillion in tax cuts for the richest people and the corporations they own!

Background: Tuesday night Congress member Mike Lawler voted YES for a budget “framework” bill that (Read more here about the details):

• Cuts roughly $2 trillion in funding for everyday Americans and their communities

• Cuts roughly $4.5 trillion in taxes,  mostly for the rich and the corporations they own

• Increases the debt by over $2.5 trillion

Cuts to Medicaid are a major part of their plan! They are calling for $880 billion in cuts to the part of the government that covers Medicaid. But that’s not all, they are also calling for cuts to SNAP benefits for hungry people, cuts to affordable housing and homeless prevention and literally every other benefit everyday people – and communities – need.

But we can stop this! What they voted on was just a framework. They still have to develop and vote on the specifics. 

That means we have time to tell Congress Member Mike Lawler to vote NO on any cuts to Medicaid, SNAP and other vital benefits!
