Forever Chemicals from Incineration: Concerns for Westchester County
You’ve heard about the forever chemicals PFAS (Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances), did you know that they are found in high levels around trash incinerators? If you are wondering what that means for Westchester County be sure to attend this month’s Zero Waste Task Force meeting on Wednesday March 13, 2024 at 7:30pm on Zoom.
This month we will be focusing on the forever chemical PFAS and incinerators as a source of PFAS contamination. We will be joined by experts in the field:
Patti Wood from Grassroots Environmental Education, a Visiting Scholar at Adelphi University, who lectures on the environment and human health in the College of Nursing and Public Health.
David Bond, Associate Director, Center for the Advancement of Public Action at Bennington College who researches PFAS soil and water contamination.
