From BanKillerDrones:
On Dec. 3, at noon, please be at the Scranton (PA) Army Ammunition Plant for the Free Palestine/Stop Arms Shipments to Israel Rally. On July 22, 2023 many of you protested at the plant in Joe Biden’s home to call for a halt to sending 155 mm artillery shells and cluster munitions into the Ukraine War.
Now the Scranton plant, operated by General Dynamics, the fifth largest arms maker in the world, is producing 155mm artillery shells that are being sent to Israel as well as Ukraine.
Please encourage members of your organizations to participate in the Dec. 3 protest, which will also make the point that U.S. shipment of weapons to Israel violates the U.S. Leahy Law, which prohibits the sending of U.S. weapons to military units that are violating human rights.
Josh Paul, Director of Congressional and Public Affairs for the State Department’s Bureau of Political and Military Affairs, resigned his post on October 18, 2023 because he objected to the U.S. shipping further weapons to Israel. In an interview published in Time magazine on October 19th, Paul said:
“Because Israel receives foreign military financing it is subject to the Leahy laws, which require the vetting of units that receive that assistance to ensure they’re not engaged in gross violations of human rights. I think the process to do that for Israel specifically, within the department, is broken and politicized and has not been able to meet the requirements of the law.”
