CAPS is looking for an Executive Director who will have a combination of experience, skills and energy necessary to educate community groups about possible models, to encourage such community groups to identify local leadership, and to help them to take the steps necessary to build and maintain Aging in Place initiatives in their communities.
The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors and will work closely with the President and other officers of the Board. As funding permits, the Executive Director may recruit and direct a small staff, but currently CAPS is a virtual organization working out of the home offices of a number of volunteers.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in the creation of a Business Plan, Marketing Plan, Fundraising Plan, and Employee Manual for CAPS, and implement the provisions of these plans to ensure organizational sustainability and growth.
• Coordinate the creation of and implement training programs for key developers of Aging in Place initiatives and informational programs for the general public.
• Coordinate the activities of the CAPS Board of Directors, Village Council, and other committees and work groups as required.

A number of communities across Westchester County have created or have been discussing the possibility of creating local consumer-directed programs that will ensure availability and access to a mix of healthcare, transportation and social services for older residents ("Aging in Place initiatives"). Because towns differ in the services that they provide, it is possible that each grass roots group will fashion its own unique program.
The Center for Aging in Place Support, Inc. (CAPS) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to the support and guidance of grass roots organizations that enable people to remain in their own homes and communities as they grow older. Currently, CAPS funding comes primarily from a grant.

• Identify and vet providers of regional services to members of Aging in Place initiatives.
• Interact and consult with key participants in Aging in Place initiatives to solidify their relationships with CAPS.
• Establish procedures for and manage the disbursements of small grants to Aging in Place initiatives.
• Identify and secure grant funding for additional program activities.
• Coordinate and cooperate with other nonprofit agencies and community-based programs on related objectives.
• Recruit and manage volunteers to accomplish CAPS programs.
Qualifications:
• Combination of business and public health, aging social service, or related policy, administration, or management experience required, with advanced degree preferred.
• Knowledge of, vision, and experience working with consumer-driven programs required.
• Documented success in fund development and grant writing required.
• Organizational development experience desired.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills required.
• Excellent writing and public speaking skills required.
• Curriculum development and training experience preferred.
• Competency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and excellent email and internet searching skills are required.
This position requires 24 – 32 hours of work per week. Hours are negotiable. Westchester resident preferred.
