About FCWC:
FCWC, founded in 1965, is an environmental education and advocacy 501(c)(3),non-profit,
whose mission is to empower Westchester County environmental non-profits and residents to
take effective action to address environmental problems and climate change on the local level
with a conscious connection to our global reality.
Job Description:
The Program Director provides leadership for the Board, Staff, Student Network, volunteers and
interns executing FCWC’s mission. FCWC’s Program Director, in collaboration with the FCWC
Board of Directors and in consultation with FCWC’s IDEA Board, identifies and prioritizes
program opportunities, proposes and leads projects, programs and events for our members and
the public to influence local environmental/climate policy and action with clear commitment to
support equity among the communities of Westchester County.
Requirements:
Management and leadership skills
Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
Experience managing people, especially young people
Ability to schedule and manage tasks effectively
Experience in environmental advocacy preferred
Experience in event planning and execution
Ability to establish and operate within a budget
Experience grant writing and execution
Responsibilities:
Work with Membership and Communications Coordinator and Board to create events,
programs, conferences and fundraisers aligning with the priorities determined by the
FCWC Board of Directors and FCWC’s IDEA Board
Support and participate in Board of Directors meetings, strategic planning sessions and
Executive Committee Meetings
Work with FCWC’s IDEA Board to identify needs and opportunities to ensure that
FCWC’s programs and policies support Westchester frontline environmental justice
communities in addressing environmental and climate issues
Support, mentor and guide the FCWC Student Network, to ensure that it operates
within FCWC’s mission in coordination with FCWC’s Board of Directors
Supervise Garry Corwin Memorial Legal Intern and other interns researching and
drafting position papers for approval by FCWC Board
Research and assist in writing grant proposals, carry out requirements of grants
Other tasks identified by the FCWC Board of Director in support of the FCWC mission
Job Details:
Salary: $20-25 hourly, commensurate with experience
Part-time (20-25 hours/ week), hybrid, flexible work schedule, Office space:
