Dear Nada,
Greetings from the Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) in Pleasantville!
I’m reaching out today because we have an exciting event coming up in our series Global Watch: Crisis & Social Action that may be of interest to you and your colleagues, and we would like to offer WESPAC up to twenty (20) free tickets to this special screening! To that end, we invite you to join us at the JBFC Theater on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:30 pm for a screening of A Night of Knowing Nothing.
About A Night of Knowing Nothing:
In her debut film, Payal Kapadia deftly merges reality with fiction, weaving together archival footage with student protest videos to tell the story of L, a student at the Film and Television Institute of India, writing to her estranged lover while he is away. Gradually, we’re immersed in the drastic changes taking place at the school and in the lives of young people across the country. Winner of the L’Œil d’or award for Best Documentary Film at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, and the Amplify Voices Award at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival (TiFF), A Night Of Knowing Nothing is a vital tapestry of the personal and the political, an essential document of contemporary India and a nostalgic look at youth fighting the injustice of their time.
A Night of Knowing Nothing screens as part of JBFC series Global Watch: Crisis & Social Action, a year-round documentary series that untangles the stories behind the headlines, sheds light in dark corners, and introduces us to the people working to make the world a better place.. This series is presented with generous support from the Louis & Anne Abrons Foundation, the Theodore & Renee Weiler Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
We would like to offer WESPAC up to twenty (20) free tickets for this one-night-only screening! If you or your colleagues are interested in attending, please respond to this email (or Paige Grand Pré at [email protected], if this email has been forwarded to you) by Monday, May 9 at 5:00 pm with your name, email address, and the number of tickets needed. If there are additional tickets remaining after the RSVP deadline, we will follow up to let you know.
In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions about this complimentary ticket offer, or the event in general. We hope to welcome you to the theater soon!
Best Regards,
Paige Grand Pré
