We took a virtual field trip through different ways we can gather and compost food scraps. We heard presentations from Westchester Legislator Emiljana Ulaj, who is working to get compostable bags in grocery stores, Greystone Apartments in Yonkers, which collects food scraps from residents, the Town of Cortlandt, which is seeing significant savings from food scrap diversion, Mothers Out Front, which has been petitioning at the local level for curbside pickup, and Sustainable Materials Management, which composts municipal food scraps for Westchester County. Scroll down for the Youtube video!
