The Healthcare Education Project is a joint effort of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and the Greater New York Hospital Association. Together, the two organizations represent over 450,000 healthcare workers and nearly 280 not-for-profit hospitals and continuing care facilities. In partnership with individuals, healthcare providers, and civic and religious leaders in neighborhoods, we fight to protect access to critical healthcare services, better understand the urgent healthcare issues facing our communities, educate our communities about the plight of the uninsured, and advocate for universal coverage for all Americans.

We are looking for organizations that work out of the CD-17 region who are interested in partnering with the Healthcare Education Project and 1199SEIU on advocacy for protecting federal Medicaid funding under our “Hands Off Medicaid” campaign. We are looking to have actions focused on this congressional district over the next two months. We are particularly interested in organizations that are focused on seniors, people with disabilities, children on Medicaid, people dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues, and small businesses that need Medicaid because they don’t have access to other insurance, but we’re open to anyone who is interested in Medicaid advocacy.
