DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct community outreach activities to ensure that DOL programs and services are accessible and responsive to the needs and concerns of immigrant workers
  • Hold workshops to enhance immigrant workers’ understanding of their rights under State and federal labor laws, rules, and regulations, and ensure that they are aware of the Department’s resources
  • Measure effectiveness of the Department’s immigrant outreach efforts through process and outcome evaluation
  • Improve the culture competency of Department staff to improve responsiveness to the needs and interests of immigrant workers

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, if they meet the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience providing assistance, direction or support to improve, protect and preserve the rights of workers and immigrants, or assisting clients in understanding and participating in public or private programs. The experience must include involvement in public education, communications, or community outreach activities.
    • Substitution: A Master’s or law degree may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and access to a motor vehicle
