Co-founder of "A Land for All" to present at WESPAC: Ending the Madness of War and Moving towards an Israeli-Palestinian ConfederationWESPAC is delighted to welcome Professor Oren Yiftachel to Westchester County on Wednesday, February 5th at 6pm at the WESPAC office located at 77 Tarrytown Rd, Suite 2W, White Plains, NY 10607. Directions to the office can be found hereOne of the Founding Board Members of A Land for All,, Prof. Yiftachel is a professor (em.) of political geography and urban studies at Ben Gurion University and University College London (hon.). He studied in Australian and Israeli universities; and was visiting scholar in a dozen international universities. He holds the Hurst Chair for Urban Studies and is an editor and board member of several renowned journals.Yiftachel is a leading activist in human rights and social justice organizations, including a founding board member of 'Adva' (center for social equality) and chair of 'Btselem' – (monitoring human rights in the Occupied Palestinians Territories); He has also worked as a planner for the unrecognized Bedouin communities. Prof. Yiftachel will present the changing political geography of Israel/Palestine, as the settings for the recent eruption of unprecedented violence in Gaza and beyond after Oct 7. His discussion will focus on the possibilities for reconciliation between Jews and Palestinians under the Confederation framework envisioned by A Land for All."A Land for All is a shared movement of Israelis and Palestinians who believe that the way towards peace, security and stability for all passes through two independent states, Israel and Palestine, within a joint framework allowing both peoples to live together and apart. Israeli-Jews and Arab-Palestinians are heavily intertwined on both sides of the Green Line and therefore building walls between them is neither realistic nor desirable. Recognizing that both Jews and Palestinians are part of the same shared homeland, and respecting their equal individual and national rights, A Land for All provides pragmatic and viable solutions to the obstacles that have stymied prior negotiations, moving us from a paradigm of separation towards a future based on power sharing and shared interests."This discussion is free and open to the public. We’re excited to be carrying the torch of bringing you and yours fresh food, medicinal herbs, and paid education opportunities, season over season!I am writing with a brief update, and a humble request. We’ve just opened up the applications for our 2025 Beginning Farmer Training Program, a 22-week paid fellowship teaching the planting, care & maintenance, and harvesting of our Food Forest crops for donation to food pantries, mutual aid groups, and free herbal clinics.
