Dear Friends,

We need all hands on deck! Please sign up below to join these urgent call relays that will be held TOMORROW – THURSDAY JULY 6th AND FRIDAY, JULY 7th to contact Governor Hochul and tell her to IMMEDIATELY sign the “Save the Hudson” bill Senate Bill 6893/Assembly Bill 7208, which was passed by the NYS legislature a few weeks ago.

To date, Governor Hochul has not signed the bill even though Holtec plans to dump over million gallons of radioactive waste from the fuel pools at the Indian Point nuclear facility into the Hudson THIS SUMMER.

This is our last chance to get the bill passed to stop Holtec from turning the Hudson River into a dumping ground for radioactive waste from Indian Point, endangering our health, our precious water supply and our economy. It is imperative that Governor Hochul  immediately sign the bill into law!

ACTION STEP:
Just sign up for a 5 minute slot to make calls to Governor Hochul on both Thursday, July 6th and Friday, July 7th. That’s all it will take – a few minutes of your time Thursday and Friday. The call relay assures a steady stream of calls throughout the day.
After your call, you then text the next person on the call sheet to let them know it’s their turn to call. The sign up sheet for the call relay includes background and sample call script. Please sign up and share with others to help fill up all the slots as quickly as possible.

Background:
Holtec International, the company decommissioning the Indian Point nuclear facility, plans to dump over a million gallons of contaminated waste from the highly radioactive fuel pool on the site into the Hudson River this summer. The discharge of radioactive waste poses a serious threat to public health, vital water source and ecosystem and to the Hudson Valley economy. The River is the primary water supply for more than 100,000 residents in 7 municipalities, while other communities depend on it as a backup water source.  The Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area was designated by Congress and is a prime destination for boating, swimming and fishing. Tourism alone in the region is a multi-billion dollar industry employing over 60,000 workers.

Please sign up for both relays. It’s just a few minutes of your time. It is imperative that Governor Hochul hear from as many people as possible to strongly urge her to immediately sign the Save the Hudson bill.
