Huge news: Senators Manchin and Schumer just WITHDREW the permitting deal that would have forced approval of the Mountain Valley Pipeline, and gutted our bedrock environmental laws!! This is a huge win and something that most people did not think was possible just a few weeks ago. Truly amazing – thank you everyone for working so hard on this.

Because there weren’t enough votes to move forward, Manchin had no choice but to pull his own bill from the floor.

The fight is not quite over yet. The dirty deal could be attached to another in the coming weeks or months. We need to stay vigilant to stop the dirty deal once and for all. I will follow up with other things to amplify shortly.

First thing Wednesday:

Call these Senate offices and urge them to publicly oppose any future fossil fuel permitting deal.  If you represent an organization, be sure to mention that!

“Even though Manchin’s permitting bill will not be in the CR, I am concerned that it will be attached to another bill in the future. Please publicly oppose any policies that would expand or fast-track pipelines and other fossil fuel projects.”
