No one should be allowed to gamble with clean, safe water – but that’s exactly what financial speculators are trying to do by trading water futures. Allowing financial speculators to profit off of and drive up prices on a resource that we all need is dangerous! |

From increased water prices to the loss of small, family farms, the only people that would benefit from water futures trading are financial speculators. Water is a human right and a resource that belongs to all the plants and animals as well. Water is not a commodity to enrich financial speculators! |

A Utility Thermal Network is the most efficient and cost-effective way of heating and cooling buildings. With the help of Con Edison and the City of Mt. Vernon, some residents of the city may have an opportunity to enroll in a pilot project that will upgrade the participating residents' heating, cooling, and hot water systems to a thermal network at no cost to them. These residents would enjoy lower utility bills and safer, more comfortable, and pollution-free heating and cooling. Scaling up such networks will eventually pay a huge role in cutting greenhouse has and co-pollutant emissions from New York's building sector, which is currently the largest source of such emissions in the state.![]()
