The Ramapough have a long history of defending their territories against corporate interests. This includes going up against Donald Trump in the 1990's. Trump feared competition for his casinos in Atlantic City, and ran a racist smear campaign against the Ramapough Nation. This prevented the Ramapough Nation from receiving federal designation, which resulted in them being unable to receive a variety of rights and services, including financial loans, health care, land rights and more. ...
