Position Description:
The College Assistant will assist the staff of the Pre Law Institute and Office of Fellowship and Scholarship Opportunities.
He or she will perform general receptionist duties as well as tasks that involve budgeting, clerical, and administrative work, and other duties as assigned. 
 
General Work Tasks Include:
 
§  Answering the telephone and greeting students, faculty, administrators and other visitors to the Pre Law Institute and Office of Fellowship and Scholarship Opportunities.
§  Organizing and maintaining departmental records, such as: student advisement reports, registration forms, attendance sheets and special event information.
§  Typing and creating flyers, posters, memoranda, correspondence, charts, and similar materials.
§  Maintaining financial records and creating budget reports.
§  Ensuring that the office is tidy and presentable.
§  Collecting and compiling data, performing data entry, and running computer reports.
§  Communicating with external service providers, law schools, and other institutions.
§  Operating office machines, computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment to perform assigned tasks.
§  Assisting with multiple events, both small and large scale, throughout the year.
§  Other duties as assigned.
 
Required Qualifications:
Strong customer service orientation, communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal), and organizational skills.  Must demonstrate sufficient skill to perform the duties described above and the assigned tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:
 
§  Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
§  Experience working in an office with administrative and budgeting responsibilities;
§  Familiar with the professional school or graduate school application process;
§  Professional demeanor;
§  Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Internet and Word; and
§  Familiar with professional office operations.
