POSITION AVAILABLE: IMMIGRATION CAMPAIGN ORGANIZER(FULL-TIME)
The immigration campaign organizer, under the supervision of the Immigration Advocacy Director, will work closely with leaders and staff from the NYIC’s member organizations and will support program advocacy work. The NYIC’s immigration campaign organizer will have a key role to play in the comprehensive immigration reform debate and will be at the forefront of the statewide campaign for reform in New York. The campaign organizer will collaborate with diverse community-based organizations, business, faith, and labor groups and will be responsible for developing and implementing campaign strategies, grass-tops organizing, and engaging the NYIC’s diverse member groups.
Develop and implement campaign strategies to promote immigrant rights and comprehensive immigration reform.
Deepen the skills of grassroots leaders within the context of immigration advocacy campaigns.
Build effective relationships with community, faith, business and labor leaders.
Organize NYIC members and allies to forward immigration advocacy goals.
Maintain communication between NYIC members and allies.
Plan community education events on issues affecting immigrant communities
Contribute to other organizational projects as necessary to advance the organizational mission of the NYIC.
Knowledge & Skills:
Two years minimum of experience in community organizing
Experience in and commitment to working to promote social justice
Proven ability to listen, understand, and develop leadership of diverse constituents
Strong organization skills, and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to think and act flexibly and creatively in a high-paced environment
Willingness to travel and work some weekends and evenings
Bi/multilingual ability preferred
