Exploring a Public Bank for the State of New York:
Potential Impact on NYS Economy and Fiscal Health

Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 7pm
Mapleton Conference Center at Good Counsel located at
52 North Broadway in White Plains, New York

The evening will feature a panel discussion with an introduction to State Banks and an emphasis on New York State.   Public banking frees the credit potential of public revenues and uses this public wealth to create sustainable, abundant and affordable credit. This credit has the potential to support our economy if it is then used to build economic capacity (renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, etc. projects that private banks may not fund).
The discussion will include investment potential and monetary and employment opportunities for the state as well as funding sources.  Panelists include Scott Baker, the NYS Coordinator of the Public Banking Institute, as well as Felice Gelman, a Certified Financial Analyst and a past president of the New York Bank and Financial Analysts Society.  This panel will be moderated by NYS Assemblywoman Sandy Galef who in 2010 introduced legislation (A1696) establishing a Commission to study the feasibility of a New York State Bank.

This event is free and open to the public and is organized by WESPAC Foundation and endorsed by:  Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer, CWA Local 1103, the Leadership Resource Group, MoveOn Westchester, Public Banking Institute, Sisters of the Divine Compassion, Mount Vernon United Tenants, Working Families Party (list in formation)
